State of Georgia

Summary of Georgia Law
It is illegal and a public nusiance to place a sign, signal or other devices within the right-of-way of any public roadway in the State of Georgia. Campaign signs are also illegal in the right-of-way. It is illegal to obstruct or deface a traffic control device. Local officials may direct the removal of illegal signs in the right-of-way.

An exact determination of the right-of-way might require a property survey, however, it is typically the unpaved area between the edge of the roadway and utility poles and can be over fifty feet wide.
